The Gen2 countercades have not had an LCD driver board identified. You'll know that is true because it is smaller than a Gen1 countercade. The Pac-Man countercade is probably a Gen2.

The only mod I plan to do to Centipede is get a better trackball. I am currently modding the Galaga/Galaxian countercade, and I also own the Centipede countercade. Whatever you decide to do with them, i hope you get as much enjoyment out of them as i do. I may someday put battops but that's as far as i would mod them

I didn't even have to upgrade the springs on any of the joysticks. And on the gen 2's you need to remain straight on during gameplay or the screen has a weird warp effect (hard to describe) but the gameplay looks fabulous. It "feels" smaller on space invaders because the cabinet itself is bigger. The screen sizes don't bother me one bit.

Two, the pink trim on the QVC model is FAR superior to the yellow trim on the other ones. One, I only really cared about Pacman, Galaga, and Ms. I chose them versus the more expensive $149 models with 4 games for two reasons. That being said it plays well.Īs far as the two Gen 2's I have from QVC.I love them. Granted im in my mid 40's and grew up on Space Invaders, but you can only get so much mileage out of it. I purchased the space invaders solely for my love of the aesthetics of the countercade. I own three countercades with no intention of modding: Space Invaders, Gen2 QVC Pac-Man and Gen 2 QVC Ms.

Anything else I need to consider in keeping these or selling them?.

I was thinking of buying these to turn them into retro NES cabinets, but even there I'd have to buy new deck layout, joysticks and buttons so another $100 in, and not sure if there is even room for 2 players? Not to mention the additional costs to mod them. Then doing research on modding them I'd have to buy a horizontal screen or only have vertical games. The other big factor is no 17" screen, which is what the the Target listing stated them as having, so thats a big bummer, as they are only a 7" screen it seems. Anyways, now that I have em at home, the rush of the CLEARANCE find/SCORE is gone, and maybe after the convo with the guy, I'm thinking do I even want or need these? Mumbled something about xmas gifts, but I think he is a flipper, he had that air about him.
